~Fun With Vintage Images~
Christmas Embellished Bottle

Happy Monday my bloggerdoodle friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and it wasn't TOO hot in your neck o' the woods! We actually have some leaves turning color already so fall is just around the corner - yippee!!
I have been playing around with vintage images for my embellished bottles and took a little swerve from my usual shabby chic-y style! I turned on some Christmas music and cranked the airconditioning to the max to get in the holiday mood and searched thru my files for some inspiration! Ok . . . I didn't really turn on the music but I should have :-)

Here is my finished project ~ didn't it turn out cute!
From my stash of bottles I chose one perfect for the new label and embellished with festive ribbons, jingle bells, holly, berries and a gingerbreadman charm. The golden glittered cork is topped with a rustic rusty star for a fun finishing touch.

For the label I selected 2 images from The Graphics Fairy ~ Karen generously shares an abundance of vintage images that will keep your creative juices flowing! I digitally layered them on top of each other ~ a charming Olde World Santa and some Christmas Sheet Music ~ the results were just what I wanted! The title translates from French to "The Christmas of Povret" ~ my search couldn't find what a Povret is but maybe someone out there knows?

I thought it would be neat to fill it with silver and gold jinglebells for the time being!
I hope you crafty ladies are beating the heat and getting inspired by Dreaming of a White Christmas!!

I'm not saying I want another winter like last year ~ you can see our patio set had some nice fluffy cushions of snow . . . but just a light dusting to set the mood :-)
Thank you for visiting today and I hope you will come back real soon!
Hugs and Smiles,

  3. Oh Lynn,
I don't want any snow yet!!! But I have been thinking of making a stocking out of an old pink wool blanket (hint, hint). I scored a package of eleven vintage lace collars for $1.50 a couple of weeks ago and have been thinking of marrying the two to make some shabby frilly stockings.
I love your bottle! You are soooo darn clever!! Where do you get all these ideas??

  5. I love this, Lynn! I have that image saved as well. I have not tried layering digitally, but would love to try, as I probably would have just layered these per paper.

  6. Oh my...Now you are putting me in the Christmas mood. I love the word "SNOW" and the temps that winter would bring. We are just hibernating from the heat in Texas.

Who would of thought a Christmas perfume bottle, how special is that? Another glorious, fresh concept from your talented hands :)

You know, sweetie, my "stash truck" is pretty empty at the present, so here I come thinking of gifts for Christmas.

I'm on my way to sell pencils on the corner so I have $$ to BUY, BUY, BUY

  14. You are smart to start early. Our heatwave just hit this week. We've had a cool summer (meaning 79 to 89) and today it was 101 degrees at the peak of the day. Now it's 92 degrees at 7pm. I was glad for the cooler days. Now I should think of snow to cool us off. Thanks for sharing!

  21. Such a cute project! I asked my French speaking husband what the translation of the title of the sheet music is and he says it means "The Poor Child's Christmas." The reason you couldn't find the meaning is that it is spelled in the Old French manner. The spelling of povret today would be pauvret but even that is considered archaic. the modern spelling drops the 't". Gee whiz, and I thought spelling in English could be confusing! Have a great day.

  29. HI
You talking about turning on the Christmas music to get in the mood to work on Christmas items. When Mother and I were selling at craft shows the only way we could get any inspiration for Christmas crafts in July and August in Alabama was to put on the Christmas tapes and listen to John Williams and the Boston Pops play Sleigh Ride, hear Mantivani's lush instrumentals (wore out 3 copies of that one) and hear Bing Crosby's White Christmas and Nat King Cole singing Chestnuts Roasting on a open Fire. To this day I still drag out those songs (now on CD not tape) when I am working on Christmas stuff.
Your Christmas bottles and pillows, stockings and sachets are the most lovely of all Christmas items.
    Mary
