I'm still here & Giveaway Winner ~FINALLY!

Oh goodness where does the time go! It looks like I've been M.I.A . . . again! I'm sure you all know how it is when things and sad events just build and you just shut yourself down to deal with it all?
Back in 1979, my Father passed away not long after I met Dave, my future husband, and he nor his family never had the chance to meet him! We married that same year and I "inherited" the best father in law in the world who for the last 31 years has been like a father to me. I've never known anyone who had such a best friend father/son relationship as Dave and his Dad! He recently had a heart attack . . . the paramedics brought him back but he was in a coma and could not breath on his own. He especially loved when the whole family could be together so it was just like him to hold on until we could all be gathered at his hospital bedside. He was being kept alive by machines for 3 days which was totally against his wishes. So when his 6 children, their spouses and his grandchildren were all there and said their final goodbyes, he went to heaven peacefully . . . He finally got to meet my Dad and I think they will be good friends.

Dave and his Father

I believe that I shared with you earlier that my sweet cocker spaniel Maxxie was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. We have been going thru the Please God just let him live thru Thanksgiving . . . Christmas . .. his birthday?? He turned 13 last week! He still has a good appetite and occasionally gets his hippity hoppity happy moments which is a good thing but he's slowing down quickly and sleeps most of the time now. We will know when the "decision" time comes but for now we are blessed with every day he's with us.

I won't depress you with any more of my trials and tribulations and want to end this post on a positive note!! Yes, I did have a giveaway ~ and it ended on . . . uHum . . . Christmas Eve :-) Ok, I know I know!!! The winning number is #28 who is Victoria from Slightly Shabby . . . It is nice to meet you Victoria and if you will send me your shipping info I will send your embellished bottle on its way!

Thank you to everyone who entered and left comments!! I have another giveaway coming very soon so please stop by again and enter.

Til we meet again in blogland . . .

Lynn

  8. Oh, you are certainly excused from blogging, How sad to lose you FIL, how great he gets to meet your Dad, This is certainly difficult on you and your hubby, how lucky he was to have such a great relationship with his Dad. Sounds like you still have some tough times ahead with your furry son Maxxie, that is so tough. Hang in there Lynn, we will be here when you want to talk.

  9. Hello Sweet Lynn,
I am sorry to read about the death of your father-in-law. Dave and his dad look so much alike!! Hopefully knowing that his dad is no longer in pain will help with the sad moments he must be having. I hold you both in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care of yourself and each other.
    Love and hugs, Laura

  10. Good to see you back, Lynn. You sure had me worried, but then you already knew that :) I wonder if MapQuest has directions from O'Hare to Villa Park when you come in by snowmobile???

That is such a lovely picture of your handsome hubby and his Dad. The Holidays are so emotionally difficult when those we love have graduated to Heaven. Somehow, we forge ahead and live with lots of good memories.

Wishing you a great 2011 at the Prairie Home.
Give Maxxie a pat on his head from me..and remember to keep your "electric socks" on. WHEW, it has been cold!!

  11. Congratulations to Victoria, a very lucky lady indeed to win the giveaway!

Dear Lynn you will be in my thoughts and prayers each day sweet lady! It is never easy to deal with loss, it takes time to adjust to the empty spot loved ones leave.
While they travel on to reunions with loved ones in heaven we are left here missing them.
I will be praying for your sweet Maxxie also...she looks like the most precious sweetheart. Give her a big hug for me!

  12. Just knew something bad had happened. You would not have been gone so long without letting folks know. Your family and you have my very deepest condolences. I have lost both of my parents. The hurt never goes away, you just have to tuck it in a corner and take it every now and then, shed the tears and tuck it back in the corner til you can handle the good memories. Prayer really does comfort a broken heart.

  13. Hello sweet Lynn,

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear father-in-law. I miss mine too. He passed away in 1983, and his only first grandchild was only 3yrs old. He was newly retired also, and didn't even get to enjoy it. I'm sorry to hear about your Maxxie too. He is so cute. Hope this year will be a better one for you.

    Blessings,
    Debbie

  15. DEAR LYNN,
I AM SO SORRY ABOUT FIL GOING HOME. VERY SAD FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS BUT HE IS WALKING IN DIVINE HEALTH WITH HIS SAVIOUR AND YOUR PRECIOUS DADDY.
EVEN KNOWING ALL OF THAT, IT IS STILL PAINFUL AND YOU MISS THEM SO.
    FOR SWEET MAXXIE.....
HE IS JUST PRECIOUS...I HAVE A SAMMY SCHNAUZER THAT HAS BEEN ON BORROWED TIME FOR TWO YEARS....I JUST KEEP ANNOINTING HIM WITH OIL AND PRAYING OVER HIM THAT HE IS HEALED FROM THE TIP OF HIS NOSE TO THE END OF HIS STUBBY TAIL. SOME DAYS WE HAVE HAD TO CARRY HIM OUTSIDE TO DO HIS BUSINESS AND THEN THE LAST MONTH HE HAS RAN AND PLAYED LIKE A PUPPY WITH ENERGY HE HAS NEVER HAD FROM THE DAY WE RESCUED HIM. RUNNING THROUGH THE HOUSE, ROLLING AND PLAYING WITH THE CATS...I JUST GIGGLE AND SAY THANK YOU LORD. I WILL PUT MAXXIE ON MY PRAYER LIST. I WAS PRAYING FOR A BIRD NAMED ROSEY BUT SHE SOARED ON TO HEAVEN TO FLY WITH THE ANGELS.
YOU ARE SO WELCOME TO E MAIL ME IF YOU NEED A LISTENING EAR. I KNOW GREAT SADNESS AND JESUS WAS REALLY ALL I HAD TO COMFORT ME.
    HUGS

  17. I love your newest project, the heart bottle. The color pink is my favor color. It's so peaceful. I am an "oldie" in more ways than one. I am retired and I don't know when I ever found time to work. I sew everyday. The Lord has blessed me with good hands for a lady of 68 years old. I give Him all the credit for my projects. I truly enjoy your blog. Love, Eunice
